Gentleman Start Your Engines

Last night Bill and I went to the Sportsdrome In Jeff. I was reluctant b/c unless its Nascar its pretty boring to me. So I decided to stay positive and enjoy. It was like a blast from the past. My husband and I actually spent our wedding night at the Fairgrounds Motor Speedway. Hmmm. We spent alot of nights there, some good, some bad. Its funny, not to sound cryptic, but when I do stuff now, that I use to do in the past, I try not to take it for granted. The cars, the smell, the backfiring of the cars, the wrecks, the smell of the food, the beautiful night. I also sat there and wondered. The track was having fan appreciation night. They started in 1947. I wondered if my sister Dorothy and Julian had been there in the past. I'm sure they had and I was probably home babysitting for their kids. Maybe, maybe not, I'll have to check with their children. I then remembered the "drone" of the races anytime we went to the "country" everyone watching the race. I still love it to this day. And there weren't any protests when we actually got to pray and in HIS name! Good ole racing fans! I never realized those things before. I also watched the people alot too. I love people-watching. There was one guy Bill knew from his uncle's gas station. He was drinking and had the cutest little boy with him. He saw Bill and yelled up to him and said "Guess what we're doing" Bill said " No telling" He yelled back that him and his son were out trying to find him a new mommy. It was sad. There were alot more stories in the people and their faces, but thats another chapter. I'm sure somewhere someone might be watching me and putting their spin on me, but probably not, most people were watching the race. I have a bad sinus headache today from all the smoke, dust and being out in the night air. I'm also achy from the bleachers, but it was such a nice evening. We may go next weekend. They are having a two hour, non stop figure 8. Hey, anyone want to come? I'm taking a cushion and looking forward to it, sorta. But, I certainly will try not to take any of it, or the experience of it for granted.
